A Honeymoon Adventure in Sri Lanka: Manuel & Evelyn’s Unforgettable Journey

Every tour is secial, but this one was truly heart-warming. Manuel & Evelyn, a lovely couple from Germany, chose Sri Lanka for their honeymoon. What made it even more meaningful? They were recommended by my former clients Elizabeth & Christian, who toured with me in 2018. This was already the third couple they had sent my way a true testament to the friendships built through travel.

Before their trip, we talked together and designed a tailored itinerary to match their interests. They wanted a mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation, and I made sure they got to experience authentic local food and Sri Lanka’s rich culture along the way.

Here’s a glimpse into their unforgettable honeymoon journey.

Day 1-2: Sigiriya – The Heart of the Cultural Triangle

We started the tour from Colombo and headed straight to Sigiriya, where Manuel & Evelyn were welcomed by stunning landscapes.

  • Day 1: A visit to the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, where they admired ancient Buddhist murals and statues.
  • Evening: A relaxing stay at a nice hotel with stunning views of Sigiriya and Pidurangala Rock, creating the perfect atmosphere for a peaceful evening.
  • Day 2 Morning: A sunrise hike to Pidurangala Rock, offering a panoramic view of Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
  • Afternoon: An exciting wildlife safari, where they spotted elephants, deer, and a variety of birds in the wild.

They were already falling in love with Sri Lanka’s beauty and adventure!

Day 3-4: Kandy & the Scenic Hill Country

Next, we travelled to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital.

  • Traditional Kandyan Dance: Manuel & Evelyn were fascinated by the fire walking performance!
  • Temple of the Tooth Relic: They experienced the spiritual atmosphere of one of Sri Lanka’s holiest sites.
  • Peradeniya Botanical Gardens: On our way to Nuwara Eliya, they enjoyed a relaxing walk among giant trees and orchids.
  • Nuwara Eliya City Visit: A short stop to experience Sri Lanka’s “Little England” before heading to Ella for the night.

That evening in Ella was all about good vibes, laughter, and cold Lion beers!

Day 5-6: Ella – Adventure & Local Experiences

Ella never disappoints, and Manuel & Evelyn loved every moment here.

  • Morning Hike to Little Adam’s Peak: A breath-taking view at sunrise.
  • Nine Arches Bridge: We were lucky to see the train crossing the bridge just in time!
  • Nightlife in Ella: Another round of beer and Kottu, Sri Lanka’s famous street food. This time, many beers together they were already feeling like locals!
  • Cooking Class Experience: The next day, they attended a traditional Sri Lankan cooking class helping to prepare and enjoy a delicious rice & curry meal.

Day 7-8: Yala – Safari & Wildlife Encounters

After all the adventure, it was time for a real wildlife experience.

  • Two nights in Yala: The perfect stay to enjoy nature.
  • Safari Day: While they didn’t see a leopard, they were lucky to spot a bear a rare sighting that made their safari extra special!

After an exciting wildlife adventure, we moved towards the south coast for some beach relaxation.

Day 9-12: Galle, Ahangama & A Special Home Visit

  • Galle Fort: A historic walk through colonial streets before heading to Ahangama.
  • Beach Stay in Ahangama: Manuel & Evelyn spent the next four days relaxing on their own, enjoying the beautiful beaches and laid-back atmosphere.
  • Final Day: I met them again to drive them back to Colombo, but before that, they had a special stop.

Manuel & Evelyn wanted to visit my home and meet my family. It was a beautiful moment, sharing traditional Sri Lankan food and coconut arrack, talking about their trip, and feeling like part of the family.

One of the most touching moments? They spent time playing with my daughter, making her laugh, and creating a bond that made the visit even more meaningful.

They left Sri Lanka not just as honeymooners but as friends for life.

Wishing Manuel & Evelyn a Beautiful Married Life!

Before leaving, Manuel & Evelyn told me:
“This was more than a tour it felt like traveling with a friend. Sri Lanka is beautiful, but what made it special was the people and hospitality. We will be back!”

As they start their new life together, I wish them endless love, happiness, and many more adventures around the world.

This tour reminded me why I love what I do creating experiences, connections, and lifelong memories.
